Hennepin County closed Nicollet Avenue (CSAH 52) to through traffic between 70th and 77th Streets starting June 1, 2026, and the closure runs through late fall. The roughly $28 million project rebuilds the roadway from the ground up, including $2.9 million in sanitary sewer replacement and $3 million in watermain replacement, plus new roundabouts at 67th, 70th, 73rd, and 76th Streets, a dedicated bikeway, and new sidewalks on both sides. The county notes the underground utilities on this stretch had not been fully replaced since the road's original construction in the 1960s. This year's work covers the southern half (70th to 77th); the northern segment (66th to 70th) follows in 2027.
