The Northwood Road Improvement Project is a three-year, roughly $18 million effort covering Northwood Road and several side streets, with a full replacement of all public utilities — water main and sanitary sewer — under streets getting complete reconstruction, and spot repairs under streets getting rehabilitation instead (Prior Lake News Compass). Construction began in May 2026, with a substantial portion of the first phase targeted for completion by September and the project continuing into 2027 (City of Prior Lake). The city's 2026 budget notes that many neighborhoods built in the 1980s and 90s have reached the point where their streets and utilities must be reconstructed, with Northwood Road as this year's flagship project and Lord's Street bridge work also on the capital plan (City of Prior Lake).
