Bathroom Sink Drain Cleaning for Slow and Clogged Sinks

A bathroom sink that drains slower and slower is usually clogged with hair, soap, toothpaste, and buildup around the pop-up stopper and trap. We clear the stopper, trap, and branch line as needed so the sink drains the way it should.

What this service solves

Bathroom sink drains are narrow, and the pop-up assembly is a magnet for trouble. Hair wraps around the pivot rod, soap film and toothpaste collect on it, and the drain slowly plugs. A lot of slow bathroom sinks improve when the pop-up is cleaned, but once buildup moves down into the P-trap or branch line, the line needs to be cleared.

We check the pop-up and trap first, then clear the line if the clog has moved deeper. If two vanity sinks share a branch line, we clear the shared line so both sinks drain properly instead of treating only one bowl.

Signs you should call

  • The sink takes longer and longer to empty
  • The pop-up stopper is wrapped in hair and gunk
  • Water rises in the bowl while the tap runs
  • A musty smell from the overflow or drain
  • It slows back down soon after you plunge it

How the service call works

  1. Pull and inspect the pop-up stopper and pivot rod
  2. Clean the P-trap where hair and toothpaste collect
  3. Clear the branch line if the clog is deeper
  4. Run water to confirm a fast drain
  5. Reset the stopper and check that it opens, seals, and drains properly
Common questions

Bathroom Sink Drain Cleaning FAQ

Why is my bathroom sink slow?

Hair, soap, and toothpaste build up around the stopper and in the trap. Clearing the line and cleaning the stopper usually restores flow.

Do I need the line cleaned or just the trap cleaned?

Sometimes cleaning the stopper and trap is enough. If the clog is deeper in the branch line, we clear the line from the best access point.

Can both vanity sinks be cleared?

Yes. If a shared branch line is clogged, we clear it so both sinks drain properly.
