$18M federal grant for Hwy 65 / Bunker Lake Blvd interchange in Ham Lake
What's happening in Ham Lake right now
Ham Lake just got a major infrastructure win. The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded $18 million through the BUILD program for the Highway 65 and Bunker Lake Boulevard interchange project, announced by Senators Klobuchar and Smith on July 10. The grant funds construction of a grade-separated interchange at Highway 65 and Bunker Lake Boulevard — one of Ham Lake's most heavily used intersections — as part of the larger initiative to convert Highway 65 into a freeway with grade-separated interchanges. Anoka County had already secured $4.3 million in state funds for the Highway 65/Bunker Lake corridor in 2026. Design and environmental planning are underway, with right-of-way acquisition planned for 2026–2027 and target construction start in 2028.
