Water Treatment Plant pipeline is tearing up Radio Drive, Interlachen, Pioneer, and Dale
What's happening in Woodbury right now
Woodbury is in the middle of its biggest infrastructure project in years: the Water Treatment Plant pipeline, which connects 20 city wells and most homes to the new plant coming online in 2028. That pipeline crosses nearly every major road in town. The current schedule closes Radio Drive between Valley Creek Road and City Centre Drive for about two weeks, and existing closures continue on Interlachen Parkway, Pioneer Drive, Dale Road, and trails near Bailey Elementary. On top of that, the Fox Run neighborhood reconstruction is underway with additional work at Central Park Place, Settlers Ridge Parkway, and Promenade Lane — full roadway rebuilds with utility work. Washington County is also resurfacing Century Avenue between I-94 and Lake Road this summer.
What this means for your drains
Woodbury is unusual because two things are happening at once: a city-wide water main pipeline and neighborhood road rebuilds. Both touch the ground your sewer lateral runs through. Here's what we typically see on homes near this work:
- Water main tie-ins loosen laterals — every home connected to the new pipeline has a service line disturbed. Sewer laterals running parallel or crossing the water trench get shifted, and older cast iron and clay lines can develop leaks or offsets months later
- Fox Run and Settlers Ridge era clay pipe — homes in these neighborhoods are old enough that many still have clay laterals. When the road is rebuilt with new subbase and drainage, settling patterns shift and hairline cracks widen into root entry points
- Detour traffic on unfamiliar streets — heavier truck traffic on residential streets during closures accelerates wear on pipes that weren't designed for it
If your home is near the pipeline route
If you're on Radio Drive, Interlachen, Pioneer, Dale, Fox Run, Central Park, Settlers Ridge, or Promenade — a camera inspection this fall or winter is the smart move. Before the ground freezes and after the road work settles is the right window to see what changed. We provide the video on a USB stick you keep.
Call 612-382-7397 or book a camera inspection.
