Crosstown/Constance Blvd roundabout going in + Round Lake Blvd signal work
What's happening in Andover right now
Two Anoka County projects are reshaping Andover this summer. First, a new roundabout is being built at Crosstown Boulevard and 161st Avenue/Constance Boulevard — a major intersection redesign that hit a big traffic switch on July 15, reopening the east side of the intersection under a new configuration. Second, the Round Lake Boulevard (CSAH 9) signal replacement project — from about 136th Avenue north through 145th Avenue — is essentially complete on the signals, and a separate pavement-preservation project along Round Lake Boulevard started July 13 with catch basin repair, asphalt removal, and concrete median work. Anoka County also has a second Andover roundabout in design for Round Lake Boulevard/Lake George Boulevard/181st Avenue with construction planned for 2028.
What this means for your drains
New roundabouts are one of the harder infrastructure projects on nearby homes. What we typically see when a roundabout replaces a signalized intersection:
- Sanitary lateral disturbance — roundabouts require more excavation than the old intersection footprint. Homes on or immediately near the Crosstown/Constance corner have laterals that may have been in the excavation zone
- Storm drainage rework — the new grading of the roundabout redirects surface water. Homes downhill from the intersection can see more runoff toward their foundations
- Vibration damage during construction — old iron stacks in Andover homes built in the 1970s-80s crack when heavy equipment is close, and problems show up as slow drains or backups months later
If your Andover home is within a block or two of the Crosstown/Constance intersection, along Round Lake Blvd, or on the Hanson Blvd corridor, a fall camera inspection gives you a baseline before winter's freeze-thaw makes small cracks into big ones.
Call 612-382-7397 or book a camera inspection.
